D/UK/LUX 2006, Directed by Richard Claus, starring Aaron Johnson (III),Jasper Harris, Rollo Weeks.., 98 min.
Adapted from the book "Der Herr der Diebe" by Cornelia Funke.
Bo and Prosper, two orphaned children are on the run, hiding among the crumbling canals and misty alleyways of Venice.
Befriended by a gang of street children and their mysterious leader, the Thief Lord, they shelter in an old, abandoned theater.
On their trail is a bungling detective, obsessed with disguises and the health of his pet tortoises.
But a greater threat to the boys' new-found freedom is something from a forgotten past - a beautiful magical carousel with the power to spin time itself.

The monthly Kinder Matinee provides a forum for our many little friends and German learners: in addition to a feature film we will showcase childrens materials from our Media Lounge.
The occasional puppet theater and an annual bookfair compliment the program.
The children can play, draw, meet and mingle and parents have opportunity to meet like-minded families.

Library card holders may borrow and return materials during the Matinee which may be kept until the following matinee.

Suggested Donation: $ 5.- per family.
Please note that all childrens films are in German without subtitles unless otherwise noted.
Parking in the building is free during the Matinee.
