Kera Washington is a member of Wellesley’s Music faculty and the director of the Yanvalou Drumming & Dance Ensemble. She is the founder of Zili Misik, a musical collaborative that incorporates Haitian, Brazilian, and West African rhythms to create music that bridges cultures, generations, and continents. Drawing their name from Ezili—the mother, lover, warrior, and spiritual entity of Haiti—Zili’s songs are sensual, political, self-reflective, positive, and invoke love. Presented by the Office for Religious and Spiritual Life at Wellesley College.
