Taiko Center of the Pacific

Taiko Center of the Pacific (TCP), a school of traditional and contemporary Japanese drumming, was established in 1994 by Kenny and Chizuko Endo to preserve traditional Japanese drumming and to create new music for taiko. TCP offers classes in taiko drumming to the general public year round for all ages and all skill levels. Since its inception, thousands of children and adults have studied kumidaiko, or ensemble drumming, at Taiko Center of the Pacific. From age 3 - 83, students learn basic form, technique, practice pieces, and cultural customs associated with the art form. TCP is proud of its highly qualified instructors with Kenny Endo serving as Artistic Director.

TCP also has two performing groups, The Taiko Center of the Pacific Youth Group and the renown Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble. The TCP YG made their debut at the opening of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii in 1994 while the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble has been entertaining audiences all over the world since 1990.

Taiko Center of the Pacific also hosts special workshops and has helped to produce the Hawaii International Taiko Festivals sponsored by the Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Hawaii International Convention. In summers, TCP offers special Summer Taiko Intensive courses for those interested in intensive training in a short amount of time. TCP also offers the Taiko Center of the Pacific Fellowship, a one-year fellowship award for aspiring taiko players to study at TCP for a year.
