Fresh off of a Baltic tour with fellow Canadian Nuthre, Holzkopf (Jake Hardy) returns to Vancouver, having previously played at The Sugar Refinery, Signal & Noise, and Fnord. His unpredictable, genre-defying
approach can leave you "feeling as fresh as a daisy patch, uncontrollably trampled by a hundred rusty machines chugging along to the discarded rhythms of hip hop, break-beat, free jazz and acid house", while offering sounds of "melodic strings being pushed between walls of mid-range noise and clumsy rhythms...clunky guitar inspired by cold beer and sunny days." He has gained a fan base throughout Canada and abroad, performing alongside Andrew Duke, Vitaminsforyou, Venetian Snares, Cex, and We Are Wolves and appearing on compilations from the UK, Italy, USA and Japan with Pita, Massimo, Jetone and others. Solo releases and mp3s can be found from a diverse set of
Canadian labels, including No Type, Nishi, Severed Digit, nOnCapable, and Dainty Death.
"Interesting mix of electro like a head-on collision of Boards of Canada and Third Eye Foundation with Wolf Eyes and Merzbow. Noisy yet serene, if that makes sense. Downtempo sexiness to drill and bass noise onslaughts. Really great stuff."
