Grammy-nominated vocalist is considered by many to be one of the finest vocalists in jazz and she has become a major name on the international jazz scene. Her 2002 Concord CD, Ballads - Remembering John Coltrane, received two 2001 Grammy Award nominations, including one for "Best Jazz Vocal Album." She returns to Yoshi's to perform material from her 10th release on Concord Records, Footprints, featuring guest vocalists Jon Hendricks and Nancy King. Footprints features new lyrics to some of Karrin’s favorite jazz instrumental standards including compositions by John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver and other Jazz legends. With the help of lyricist Chris Caswell, Footprints is the first CD release featuring these new lyrics. Allyson is a creative improviser who can do it all, from sensitive ballads to over-the-top, all-out scatting.
