KAB Cultivating Leaders: Biofiltration Landscaping June 11, 2011

You have probably driven by the beautiful landscaping near Cesar Chavez and Lamar many times without realizing that its function is even more important than its form. Join Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB) and Lee Sherman from the city’s Watershed Protection Department (WPD) for tour of a biofiltration pilot project near Lady Bird Lake. Biofiltration is a pollution control technique using living materials to process pollutants. Come learn about storm water treatment, how projects throughout the city use plants as energy dissipators and filters, and take home some techniques for your own rain garden.
