New York, NY – The New York Civil Liberties Union (the New York State affiliate of the ACLU) Young Professionals committee will host JUST ART 2010, an art exhibit and silent auction to benefit the NYCLU, at Twelve 21 (12 W. 21st St. in Chelsea) on Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m.

Admission is $25 in advance, $35 day of, and includes an open bar sponsored by Magic Hat and The Artisan Wine Company. Tickets can be purchased at www.nyclu.org/event/just-art-2010.

This third annual event will raise funds for the NYCLU’s advocacy and policy work. As part of the fundraising effort, 18 prolific and emerging artists, working in diverse mediums, will exhibit artworks speaking to pressing New York civil liberties issues: reproductive rights, censorship, immigration reform, racial profiling and privacy.

The exhibit will be installed at Twelve21 gallery space for one night only. All artwork will be available for purchase as part of a silent auction benefiting the NYCLU. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on items such as vacation packages and one-of-a-kind Broadway experiences.

Just Art 2010 is curated by Catinca Tabacaru and sponsored by ArtLog. Featured Artists include Eteri Chkadua, Sophia Petrides, Erin Parish, Jane LaFarge Hamill, Virginia Martinsen, Andrea Stanislav, Mia Brownwell, Brian Leo, Christian Dore, Gail Stoicheff, Tamara Mendels, Rachel Monosov, Sharon Molloy, Liz Sullivan, Jack Howard-Potter and Carly Ivan Garcia.

The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) is one of the nation's foremost defenders of civil liberties and civil rights. Founded in 1951, the NYCLU is a non-profit organization with a mission to defend and promote the fundamental principles and values embodied in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution and the New York Constitution, including freedom of speech and religion, and the right to privacy, equality and due process of law for all New Yorkers.

The New York Civil Liberties Union Young Professionals is a new program that engages New York City’s young professionals between the ages of 24 and 40 in defending the civil liberties of all New Yorkers through raising awareness of the NYCLU as well as funds through their two main annual fundraisers, Just Art and the Big Gay Variety Show which took place at (Le) Poisson Rouge earlier this year.
