As performed in Atlanta, Dallas, Washington D.C. and Chicago, Jump the Broom uses humor, song, dance, and entertaining dialogue to raise awareness about the challenges of relationships, marriage and the value of family support.

Writer - director Thomas Meloncon is a Professor in the Fine Arts Department of the historically black Texas Southern University, and is a longtime playwright of educational drama. Jump the Broom focuses on positive alternatives and solutions for developing healthy relationships as teenagers, singles or in marriage. As it follows the stories of seven characters who have one common denominator, the need to communicate and to be loved, Jump the Broom will make you laugh, cry, sing, and think.

This one-act play is followed by audience discussion with the actors and professionals in the field of marriage, family and youth counseling.
