Friday, July 9, is the deadline to register for the Young People’s Chorus of Erie Regional Summer Choir Camp.

The second annual camp is open to all youth ages 7 to 18 who have a passion for singing and the ability to match pitch. The week-long camp will be held Monday, August 9, through Saturday, August 14, at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

Regional Summer Choir Camp is residential for singers ages 10 to 18; campers ages 7 to 10 will attend during the day. All participants will receive instruction in music theory and sight-singing, and will be given private and group voice lessons. In addition to evening performances, campers will sing the National Anthem at an Erie SeaWolves baseball game and perform at the August 13 YPC Erie Summer Gala event, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is the only comprehensive youth chorus organization in northwestern Pennsylvania. It is a regional outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn Behrend and the first affiliate of the internationally acclaimed, multicultural Young People’s Chorus of New York City.

The cost for residential campers is $250 and includes lodging in one of Penn State Behrend’s residence halls and all meals. The cost for day campers is $125 and includes lunches and snacks. YPC offers need-based scholarships of up to 50 percent for campers who demonstrate financial need.

For Regional Summer Choir Camp registration materials, phone the YPC Erie office at 814-898-6789 or e-mail [email protected].
