– The Penn Bookstore will welcome novelist and University of Pennsylvania alumna, Julie Buxbaum, at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mar. 26, to discuss her debut novel, The Opposite of Love. The discussion and signing will be held on the second floor in the bookstore's multi-media event space.
In this novel, Julie Buxbaum’s successful, young heroine, Emily Haxby finally decides to take control of her life and face the fears that have long haunted her. Emily ends her happy relationship just as her boyfriend is on the verge of proposing, and she cannot explain why. As the holiday season approaches and Emily contemplates whether she made a huge mistake, the rest of her world begins to unravel: she is assigned to a multimillion-dollar lawsuit where she must defend the very values she detests by a boss who can't keep his hands to himself; the person she cares most about in the world, her Grandpa Jack, is starting to suffer from dementia, while her emotionally distant father has left her to cope with this alone; and underneath it all, fading memories of her deceased mother continue to remind her that love doesn't last forever.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
