While his name might not be on the tip of everyone's tongue in his homeland, folk-leaning singer/songwriter Josh Ritter has benefited from numerous positive reviews and a loyal fan base. Born in Idaho, Ritter bought his first guitar after hearing the Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash classic "Girl From the North Country."
Now, over the course of five albums and near constant touring, Ritter has set himself up as one of the chief, serious, singer/songwriters of his generation. A true American musical export in the vein of Townes Van Zandt, John Prine and -- on a smaller scale -- Bob Dylan, Ritter's lyrics and delivery have only improved with each release.
But album recordings aren’t Ritter’s only strong point. The singer-songwriter has preformed at various national and international venues to fans and newcomers alike, including The Late Night Show with David Letterman twice with the latest performance in January 2008. Accompanied by a talented four-piece band, Ritter continues to tour and further his musical ambitions.
