Joseph Franz: A Renaissance Man in the Twentieth Century January 30, 2008

Jo Humphrey, long time member of the NYG&B, will discuss her book, Joseph Franz: A Renaissance Man in the Twentieth Century (iUniverse, 2006). Mr. Franz immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager, before the dawn of the twentieth century. He had no money, little education, and spoke but a few words of English. The archetypal story of the poor immigrant who made good, Ms. Humphrey tells her father’s story using his own words, writings, and the recollections of several family members.

Booktalks are held in the Portrait Gallery at Society headquarters, 122 E. 58th St., New York City, and are open to all. There is no charge for these talks, but reservations are suggested.
