Pianist extraordinaire Jon Nakamatsu stole the spotlight in 1997 when he won the gold medal in the 10th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, outperforming two Russian flamethrowers. Overnight, Nakamatsu was in demand by the great orchestras of the world.
