This will be the first of what will be an annual event to honour the life and memory of poet, publisher, political and cultural activist John La Rose (1927-2006), a towering figure in Black British and Caribbean political and cultural activism for much of the latter half of the 20th century.
The Lecture will be given by John La Rose’s close friend and comrade David Abdulah, Secretary General of the Oilfields Workers Trade Union in Trinidad & Tobago, the leading trade union in the Caribbean.
Abdulah will be examining ‘Politics and People’s Power after Obama’ and what lessons can be learnt in our constant quest to increase social justice and popular power.
The Lecture is organised by The George Padmore Institute in association with the Institute of Education and supported by funding from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.
