Past From the Blast, an interactive art experience that melds fine art, installation, and sound in a collaborative presentation conducted by John Felix Arnold and featuring an opening night performance by musical duo, Japanther. Past From the Blast is a hyperbolized visual depiction of a post-apocalyptic future world in which man’s obsessive drive to dominate and innovate leads to the reset of human civilization. The work for this exhibition is meant to examine what Arnold sees as an impending shift in human evolution. Past From the Blast is a collaborative idea between Arnold and Japanther and serves as a visual and aural document of what happens when science and society’s need for “bigger, better, faster, more” overtakes us, spinning out of control and becoming more than we can handle. The work for this exhibition will feature large sumi ink paintings on paper, mixed media pieces, sculptural “relics”, and a central installation that will function as a shelter, altar, and performance space for the opening and closing night musical acts.

John Felix Arnold III depicts the complex connections, flow and inter-workings of movement, imagery, sound, feeling, emotion, and perception of everyday life and time spans with highly detailed morphing, amoebic forms called Astroknots. His new work explores personal accounts of the turning of humanity through portraiture and epic visual narratives.

Past From the Blast will be exhibited at Queen’s Nails Projects, located at 3191 Mission Street in San Francisco. The artist’s reception will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 6-9pm, followed by a musical performance by Japanther from 9-11pm.
