John Cephas and Phil Wiggins October 6, 2007

Guitarist John Cephas and harmonica man Phil Wiggins met in 1977 at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in their hometown of Washington, DC, where Cephas was playing with Big Chief Ellis and Wiggins was accompanying gospel-singer guitarist Flora Melton. They hooked up with pianist Ellis and bassist James Bellamy to form the Barrelhouse Rockers and gave birth to the dazzling duo that they are today after Ellis' death.
