John Calloway and the Flute Odyssey bring the flute to the forefront and keep it there. Nine accomplished flute players take us down different paths of flute playing that represent various cultures, techniques, and philosophies. John Calloway is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed with many renowned jazz and Latin music artists throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America, among them: Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Max Roach, Omar Sosa, Jesus Diaz and John Santos. His recording credits include two CDs with his own ensemble, "Diaspora" and "The Code," along with the Grammy nominated CDs "SF Bay," "Ritmo y Candela" and Ritmo y Candela II. John has a Doctorate in International and Multicultural education from the University of San Francisco and is on faculty at San Francisco State University, and at the Jazz School in Berkeley, CA.
