The John Butler Trio is a popular band from Australia. Butler's inflections of blues, funk and soul is shared between textured instrumentals and lyrics that alternate from peppy rhymes to crafted poetry. Ki:Theory(a.k.a. Joel Burleson)'s genre-mashing solo debut is a unique amalgamation of sounds that is as much lo-fi and organic as it is forward thinking; invoking comparison to everything great about such artists as Beck, Gorillaz, Sparklehorse and Portishead Bristol-era trip-hop.
