Formed in Providence in 2006, The Low Anthem pays homage to old-time folk singers such as Tom Waits and Bob Dylan while drawing comparison to more modern bands like Fleet Foxes or Surfjan Stevens. The band started with Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky, who met while attending Brown University. Their most recent line-up also includes Jocie Adams, a classical composer and NASA technician who joined the band in 2007. The band's first album, The Low Anthem, was released in 2006. They followed that with What The Crow Brings in 2007 and, most recently, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin.
