Joan of Arc June 1, 2008

This Chicago band started off as a popular area group called Cap'n Jazz. Eventually, they reworked their sound and were reborn as Joan of Arc. The years have wrought many changes in the band's sound and lineup, including a brief break up in 2001. Now signed to Polyvinyl Records, their album 'Joan of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain...' was released in August, 2004. This Portland, Oregon-based band shows elements of geek rock, progressive rock and noise rock, all evident on their 2002 debut album, 'A Word Is Also a Picture of a Word.'
