Manchester, England M1 2FF

Klara Söderberg is one half of folk duo First Aid Kit. The Swedish singer/guitarist began writing songs with sister Johanna in 2007, and the pair have released two albums to date, including last year’s excellent The Lion’s Roar – which reached Number One in their native country and Top 40 in the UK. They’re signed to Wichita Records, having previously released an EP on The Knife‘s Rabid Records.

Jo Rose is an anti-nu-folk, Anglo-Americana minstrel. He’s one of our favourite local artists, who’s ably supported the likes of Jesca Hoop, Simone Felice and Willy Mason for us over the years. He counts Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, Smog and Leonard Cohen among his influences – which will give you a real flavour of his own sound.

For this one-off show, Jo and Klara will play together as a duo, with a set likely to include unusual cover versions plus a few of their respective songs. They will also be joined by other musicians for this special evening.

Support comes from another of our favourite Manchester-based Americana artists, Gabriel Minnikin. The uniquely talented Canadian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has been a worker in song since the 1990s, both as a soloist and in collaboration with a range of hugely talented artists. He has played with the likes of First Aid Kit, Justin Townes Earle, The Handsome Family and Caitlin Rose among countless others.

Takk is the brand new coffee house on Tariff Street in the Northern Quarter. Inspired by Scandinavian cafes, Takk will offer hand-roasted and Icelandic drip coffee, a selection of loose-leaf teas, plus award-winning brownies and Manchester tarts.
