Jim Hanft started playing guitar and writing songs at age 14 with two goals in mind: "make his brother's friends laugh and his mother's friends cry." Throughout his career as a singer-songwriter, he has stuck to the same philosophy. Says Hanft: "when you combine the two you make people completely vulnerable yet completely comfortable at the same time."
