LA Artcore is pleased to present a solo exhibition of the works of Ji Young Oh. For twenty years, Oh has created a body of paintings and collages that are both an expression and a critique of media culture, systems and individuality. By experimenting with contrasting images, surfaces and materials, Oh’s process introduces combinations of visual elements that generate accidental and controlled outcomes both in appearance and in meaning. Operating within a boundary between subjective mark-making, free-association and appropriated imagery, Oh’s subject is characterized by ambiguity and the loss of words. Oh Received her MFA from Claremont in 1989. Her work has been widely exhibited in Southern California including the Pacific Asia Museum, Andrew Shire Gallery and Sabina Lee gallery.
