Our Guest: Gene Doody, Senior IT Consultant with CapTech Ventures
Mr. Doody is currently a Consultant to the Armed Forces Benefits Association in Alexandria, VA. Gene's expertise in IT comes from more than 23 years in Information Technology, with over 15 years in strategic technology leadership roles. He spent 12 years working in the Fortune 100 arena for a variety of organizations that include Financial Services, Insurance, Engineering and Manufacturing. He has over 20 years of private sector experience and spent almost 3 years serving as the CIO for the City of Richmond, VA. Gene was appointed to the cabinet position by Mayor L. Douglas Wilder in January 2006, and served as the city's IT strategist with responsibility for all the municipality's technology activities.
His background includes 15 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, delivering numerous programs and projects involving both internal and outsourced IT staff. Gene also possesses 13 years of experience in the IT specialty areas of application development, architecture, and program/project governance. His more recent leadership roles have provided him the opportunity to gain experience with business intelligence and business process management. He has a strong belief in applying best practice disciplines such as ITIL, CoBIT, PMBOK, and standard development methodologies.
