A Special Presentation

by

Loren Schoenberg,

Executive Director, Jazz Museum in Harlem

As part of its exploration of the history of the Jewish community in the Fillmore District, including its new Bernard Zakheim exhibit, the Jazz Heritage Center is pleased to host noted jazz historian Loren Schoenberg, Executive Director of the Jazz Museum in Harlem, for a fresh, multi-media look at the tremendous influence Jews have had on the evolution of jazz.

From composers Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerome Kern to musicians Benny Goodman (with whom Schoenberg worked for five years), Stan Getz and Kenny G. (!), there has been a road of reciprocal influence that is both entertaining and challenging to confront.
