A century of Jewish history in Elgin is being celebrated in an exhibit that showcases merchants, philanthropists and one of the Navy’s first female officers. The exhibit was a result of a yearlong research project by the Elgin Area Historical Society and Museum in partnership with the Seigle Family Foundation of Elgin. The exhibit also features displays by the Elgin Chapter of Hadassah and children’s art from the Congregation Kneseth Israel. The special exhibit runs from March 1 through May 15.
