Singer/songwriter misfit with soul Jess Godwin is a bit of a conundrum. Dubbed "the voice of a songbird" (Chicago Tribune) with "powerhouse vocals and killer legs" (Chicago Sun-Times), her quirky demeanor and understated sense of humor is nothing short of refreshing in a sea of spit-and-polish artists. Godwin's live performances tend to be emotional events characterized by honest and impassioned delivery. The band brings the stories to life, but all she really needs is a mic and a piano to take the whole room.
As an actor, she has been onstage with Steppenwolf Theater, (Chicago) Court Theatre (Chicago), Porchlight Theatre (Chicago), and Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven). Jess attended Vanderbilt University as a classical music major and completed her studies as a theater major at Columbia College. She uses her extensive knowledge of vocal and audition technique to teach voice lessons out of her private studio. Godwin's unique brand has developed from years of performing genres ranging from Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Classical to R&B, Gospel and Soul.

Godwin's most recent CD "Quiet the Room" was produced by Jan Smith (Justin Bieber, Usher, Jill Scott, Rob Thomas) in Atlanta.
