Written with wry humour and a keen eye for the absurd and the frustrating, My Family and Other Strangers will be enjoyed by anyone who has tried to decipher the 1911 census records, or simply wishes they too had asked their grandparents more about their lives when they had the chance.

Eager to discover the truth, if any, in these stories, Jeremy set out on a journey into the world of family ancestry. In locations as diverse as the Croydon one-way system, Arundel Castle and the hostile waters around Malta he sought out traces of recognisable family traits and a sense of how he came to be. And as he leafs through ledgers and documents, he ponders how important family is and how whether it really defines us.
