Jeannette Walls discusses & signs "The Glass Castle" April 5, 2007

New York Times bestselling author and MSNBC contributor Jeannette Walls will visit Joseph-Beth to kick-off the Allegheny County Library Association’s One Book, One Community program.

Every April, the month-long One Book program brings Allegheny County residents together around a selected book to challenge stereotypes and generate ideas. The program’s goal is to build a stronger community through reading and civic discourse.

This year’s selection is The Glass Castle, a memoir written by Walls that centers on the trials and tribulations of a homeless family. Encompassing themes of love, family and redemption, the book details the effect homelessness can have on families — especially children.
