NORMA COOMBS ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL HOSTS JAZZ JAM 2009
Pasadena, CA – On April 25, 2009 Norma Coombs Alternative School (NCAS) will host its first
annual Jazz Jam at the track and field of Pasadena High School (PHS). This event is includes
Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students K-12, parents, teachers, school administration
and the community. This event is to fund the arts and music department of Norma Coombs
Alternative School. The event is from 11:00AM – 5:00PM. The PUSD and the performers are
giving back to the community and more importantly, the children of Norma Coombs Alternative
School.
The event, Jazz Jam consists of local jazz performers from the Pasadena Unified School District
(PUSD) as well as local celebrity and notable jazz performers such as David Garfield and The Cats as the headliner (http://www.myspace..com/davidgarfieldandthecats) and Ron Brown, Donald
Patterson and Wayne Linsey opening the event. Pre-sold tickets are $10.00. On the day of the event tickets are
being sold for $15.00 at the gate. Food and beverages will be sold at the event. Please bring
blankets and chairs to fully enjoy the event.
In addition to live performances, there will be family activities that will inspire students
scholastically, socially and athletically. These activities include arts/crafts, golfing and gardening
from Lakeshore Learning, Home Depot, First Tee (Brookside Golf Course), Whole Foods,
Perry’s Joint, Officer Mc Gruff of Pasadena Fire Department and other local contributors. We
have successfully collaborated together to make a memorable day of educational fun for
everyone. We are also raffling off wine and cheese baskets to be enjoyed on the day of the
event.
