big-chorded blues." - Jon Pareles, New York Times

JAZZ AT INTERSECTION continues with the Larry Vuckovich
Bebop/Swingin'/World Music Quintet, an all-star ensemble whose members
have performed internationally. Performing a number of compositions
that draw from the experiences and visionary voices of each of the
ensemble's members, the Larry Vuckovich Bebop/Swingin'/World Music
Quintet will traverse a musical landscape stretching across continents
and decades - from Yugoslavia to Cuba - all with an underlying
powerful rhythmic pulse. This is our 62nd Jazz At Intersection
concert since the series' inception in 1999. The mission of Jazz At
Intersection is to create a place where jazz is the priority, where we
are able to promote dialogue about the art form, where we explore the
jazz language with our community, and where emerging and experienced
composers are encouraged to experiment with new forms. Understanding
the absence of a monolithic jazz paradigm, we have consistently
presented a multiplicity of styles that constitute a contemporary
definition of jazz. We invite our community to join us over the
course of successive Jazz At Intersection performances to directly
experience the incredible diversity that America's indigenous art form
represents.

Jazz At Intersection is an intimate, educational performance series
exploring the history and breadth of the jazz language,
where a provocative, inclusive and ever-evolving musical experience is
the priority.

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary next year, Intersection for the Arts
is San Francisco's oldest alternative art space and presents
challenging new works in literature, theatre, visual and
interdisciplinary arts. We depend on the support of people like you.
