San Francisco native Jaz Sawyer returns to the Bay Area by way of the East Coast reuniting with longtime music collaborators including Marcus Shelby and Howard Wiley for a spectacular night. Joined by his peers and the next generation of Bay Area pioneers, the tradition continues of West Coast bread musicians that raise the bar for the Bay Area scene and throughout the globe. Mr. Sawyer has performed and recorded with artists such as Abbey Lincoln, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, Phil Lesh & Friends, Jacky Terrason, Irvin Mayfield, Robin McKelle, Mlumbo and others.

In 2002, after a brief detour from New York, Sawyer made a “history/research pilgrimage” to New Orleans to learn more about the origins of Jazz. While there, he worked with many of the city’s finest musicians, including Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Kermit Ruffins, New Olreans Jazz Orchestra and the New Orleans-flavored Latin jazz band Los Hombres Calientes.

Now 30, he holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The New School University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the Metropolitan College of New York. He is actively involved as an advocate within communities in the Bay Area and New York to continue his mission to improve music education for youth by teaching music workshops across the nation. Mr. Sawyer & the All-Stars will be performing original compositions and favorite standards. History will be made with this collection of world-renowned local artists so don’t miss it!
