Guartist Jason Isbell is from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and was breaking into the studio scene there when Truckers frontman Patterson Hood came calling in the spring of 2002 following the departure of former guitarist Rob Malone. Centro-matic's music has turned the band into working-class heroes of the Texas underground. Guitarist/ vocalist Will Johnson, bassist Mark Hedman, vocalist/ keyboard player Scott Danborn and drummer Matt Pence are the members of Centro-matic. Over a constant and grueling regimen of American and European touring with bands like Ben Kweller, the Promise Ring, Burning Airlines, the Pernice Brothers, Varnaline and Jay Bennett, Johnson and his team have built a rabid international fan base and a reputation as one of the hardest-working rock bands in the country.
