Overview of the 2007 [11th] Japan Media Arts Festival

The largest ever number of entries, 2,091 from 43 countries and regions.
Award-winning works and Jury recommended works have been selected
from among them for Art, Entertainment, Animation, and Manga Divisions.
We are going to exhibit innovative works with a strong message which
make their mark in the new era in a space whose size has doubled from
the previous venue.
The Computer Graphics Contest for Students and Leading Edge
Technology Showcase are also exciting.

8 symposiums which cannot be held by any where except Japan Media
Arts Festival.
Artists, creators, technical experts, researchers, curators, and educators
are going to discuss various issues on media art in the world.

It is the fourth Collaboration on Animation Films with Students from Asia
this year. Thirteen students from China, Korea, and Japan get together
and jointly create a short animation film. The project will bebased on an
image inspired by a song composed by Sunplaza Nakano Kun of
BAKUFU-SLUMP especially for this event.

Showing visual works of various genres selected in 2007 [11th] Japan
Media Arts Festival in theaters including theatrical animations, TV
animations, short animations, VFX, music videos, CM, and art images,
among others. Visitors can also enjoy screenings of foreign festival
award winning works and presentations.

Screening a full version of SIGGRAPH Electric Theater on a
high-definition Screen. We will also have a Special lecture by Paul
DEBEVEC, well-known for The Matrix creator. Media art int the world
including Ottawa International Animation Festival and ARS Electronica
among others will be introduced as well.
