James Miller: Delays, Delays

"Commanding eloquence…" Los Angeles Times

Man and machine carry out a techno pas de deux as James Miller performs a series of delightfully inventive "short stories" for trombone and digital signal processor. Playing with great color, the virtuoso trombonist marshals a vast array of astonishing effects to build up intricate multilayering and the dramatic sweep of a multi-instrumental performance. Also on the program: Willie Wind Down the Windy Winding Prairie Trail?, a multimedia tour de force; Frames, a dance for CD, woodwinds and percussion; Acorns, a duet for clarinet and trombone; and Friends of Friends, a duet for two wind instruments and loop sampler; and a mighty fanfare by composer Daniel Schneider to start up the program.
