Jacqui Naylor brings Remembering Blossom Dearie to Yoshi's San Francisco on Sunday, April 19th

Jacqui Naylor dedicates her new show to one of her favorite singer-songwriters and greatest influence, Blossom Dearie. Expect to hear Dearie's influence on Naylor's delectably slow versions of "Tea For Two," "Manhattan," and on the wit-filled "Blossom's Blues." Tying it all together are Naylor's beloved originals like "Celebrate Early and Often," and a new-New Deal song called "Singin' My Cares Away." She'll also include her trademark "acoustic smashes," where she sings a jazz standard over a rock groove or vice versa. "The words are to Gershwin's 'Summertime' but the music is Gregg Allman's 'Whipping Post.' Naylor has the chops and sensitivity to pull it off," adds New York Magazine.
Naylor will be joined on stage by Art Khu, Jon Evans, Josh Jones and Yoon-Ki Chai. To honor Dearie's contributions to "Schoolhouse Rock," Jacqui's afternoon show includes guest appearances by rising young jazz lions, Matt Wong and Ele Howell, both just 10 years of age. www.jacquinaylor.com
