Jacqueline Novogratz is the founder & CEO of Acumen Fund, a non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty. Her recently published memoir, The Blue Sweater, tells the inspiring story of a woman who left a career in international banking to spend her life on a quest to understand global poverty and find powerful new ways of tackling it. In ways, both hilarious and heartbreaking, Jacqueline shows how traditional charity often fails, but how a new form of philanthropic investing called "patient capital" can help make people self-sufficient and change millions of lives.
Acumen Fund seeks to prove that small amounts of philanthropic capital, combined with large doses of business acumen, can build thriving enterprises that serve vast numbers of the poor. Its investments focus on delivering affordable, critical goods and services - like health, water, housing and energy - through innovative, market-oriented approaches. Acumen Fund currently manages more than $40 million in investments in South Asia and East Africa, all focused on delivering affordable healthcare, water, housing and energy to the poor.

Since its establishment in 1987, the highly acclaimed Harold and Pauline Price Center has served as a catalyst in advancing the theory and practice of entrepreneurship at UCLA Anderson and beyond. The Galef Symposium

The Galef Symposium was created to convene gatherings of students, faculty and leading members of the entrepreneurial business community in order to address issues of interest to owners and managers of rapidly growing enterprises worldwide. The symposium provides a unique forum in which academics, business developers and students can impact the direction of the knowledge creation process through an exchange of insights and experiences.
