A Washington DC native, Ivy Ross grew up surrounded by groundbreaking bands that ranged in style from hardcore punk to bluegrass to go-go (a hip hop-dance music hybrid). The home base of Fugazi, Duke Ellington, and Roberta Flack, DC provided a phenomenal musical springboard for the young singer, who also relied on the Beatles and her cassette player for practicing harmony.
