The small state of Freedonia, in financial ruin, borrows a huge sum of money from wealthy widow Mrs. Gloria Teasdale. She insists on replacing the current president with Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) and mayhem erupts. To make matters worse, the neighboring state of Sylvania sends inept spies Chicolini (Chico) and Pinky (Harpo) to obtain top secret information, creating even more chaos.

Director/producer Ivan Reitman has been the creative force behind such beloved and raucous comedies as OLD SCHOOL, ANIMAL HOUSE, STRIPES and GHOSTBUSTERS, as well as more sophisticated delights including DAVE, 6 DAYS 7 NIGHTS and TWINS.
