It’s Children’s Day In the Freer and Sackler Galleries
Fri., May 4, 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Learn about Japanese Children’s Day with Shizumi Shigeto Manale and be captivated by the Kodomo Dance Theatre, a troupe of young dancers who perform in traditional kimono. Shizumi explains this celebration of youth as an introduction to this special day. Then the dancers act as guides, leading us into the Sackler Gallery of Art where audiences explore delightful examples of Japanese art. A specially prepared packet of gallery-related and follow-up materials is given to each participant after the performance.
