As a compliment to its latest exhibition, Italics: Italian Art between Tradition and Revolution 1968-2008, the MCA presents the Italics Film Series, running from January 7 through January 31. The series features classic and cult Italian films that changed the world of cinema and resonate with the themes of Italics. Presented in arrangements loosely structured around themes of family, self, politics, and design, Italics is a groundbreaking exhibition about Italian art and creativity that includes work by more than 80 Italian artists who forge new identities from deep roots blossoming in many different directions. Directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini Cinematography by Tonino Delli Colli In Italian with English subtitles, 107 minutes Adapted from Boccaccio's classic novel, Pasolini satirizes church, state, and class structures with an eroticized vision of daily life in 14th-century Italy. Pasolini himself appears as a fresco painter and student of Giotto, wondering if perhaps "it's enough to dream a masterpiece rather than paint it."
