The Academy Award-winning coming-of-age story, Cinema Paradiso, is the first in a three-film series of modern Italian cinema to be presented by the Colonial Italian American Organization (CIAO) and the Williamsburg Regional Library. The 122-minute film will be shown in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland St. on Tuesday, January 8 at 7 p.m. Admission is free and no tickets are required. Each film will be followed by a reception open to the public.

Anthony Albanese, chairman of the CIAO education committee, said, the film festival is being created to raise awareness of the rich cultural heritage of Italian art, language, music and film. The films are presented in Italian with English subtitles.

Patrick Golden, the Williamsburg Regional Librarys Program Services Director, said the festival follows in the librarys tradition of presenting popular film series like the weekly Thursday afternoon films and the Celtic Film Series.

Future films to be presented in the series will include Il Postino (The Postman) on Tuesday, February 12 and La Vita
