Overview:
It is less emphasised that the key to effective project management is an efficient risk management system. Whether it is a software project management or an IT Infrastructure project management, the risks associated with the projects along with the business risks need to be identified rightly and mitigated. The reviews have to take place throughout the lifecycle of the project and risk levels redefined.

Most of the times, risk management is done just for the sake of it without paying enough attention to it resulting in risks strike creating emergency situations. This is probably a most overlooked area in project management.
