Born in Bombay, Ismail Merchant has spent most of his life in the West and began making films in the early '60s. A bit of a renaissance man, Merchant has worn many hats in his lifetime - producer, director, chef and author. Today is devoted his directorial career, with screenings of "In Custody" at 1pm, "Cotton Mary" at 3:30pm, and "The Mystic Masseur" at 8pm. A talk with the famed filmmaker takes place at 6pm. Free
