Islamic & Indian Arts of the Book: Book Structure & Calligraphy August 23, 2011

This half day program examines book structure and calligraphy and includes a demonstration of the art of Islamic calligraphy by Mohamed Zakariya, the foremost practitioner of Islamic calligraphy in the United States and a specialist in Ottoman, North African, and Andalusian calligraphy. Presented in conjunction with Islamic and Indian Arts of the Book: Conservation & Context, a professional development workshop for conservators that will focus on the long term preservation and exhibition of the arts of the book from both the Islamic and South Asian traditions.
