Case Study: ISAR meets LA River. In October 2008 the Isar will make its debut in Hollywood and there is a chance, the Bavarian river will become an instant celebrity with L.A audiences.
In a show of support for the outstanding work of Friends of the Los Angeles River (FOLAR) the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles will bring in Munich experts to tell the story of the ISAR’s exemplary and internationally unique renaturation.
The series of events include a public forum at the DWP talks between experts and representatives from politics, business, academia and the Army Corps of Engineers as well as visitations to the LA River.

Experts from Munich, including Deputy Mayor Hep Monatzeder (Green Party) will talk about the successful renaturation of the ISAR river, which, for the last decade has been successfully combining the city’s need to control floods while giving its population recreational spaces along the entire river bank.
The multi-media key note address will be given by Ralf Wulf, head of the engineering department of the City of Munich
