Art Salon at Zhu Qizhan Art Museum presents the British electro duo Isan's debut in China on May 27th, 2006.

Founded in Reading England by Robin Saville and Antony Ryan, the duo embarked on a career of making smart, warm, and accessible music in the mid-1990s when a number of ambient techno artists as Autechre and Aphex Twin were reigning in the electronica scene. Now based in Southend and Wiltshire respectively, Robin and Antony work separately from each other most of the time, communicating via post and internet. Like many of their contemporaries, Isan hold to their own recipe for simple rhythms, pop-inflected song structures, and strong analog melodies which sound like Brian Eno's ambient sound meet easy-listening IDM.

Having recorded in the past for various indie labels like Static Caravan, Liquefaction Empire, and Foundary, Isan consider Morr Music to be their spiritual home which gathers a troop of talents working on this genre, say, Lali Puna and Mum. Their releases on Morr Music, like 2001's Lucky Cat and 2004's Meet Next Life, have earned the band a large following throughout the world. Another major indie label Warp also incorporated Isan's remix of Seefeel's "When Face Was Face" to its tenth anniversary remix compilation. Recently, Isan have seen their profile boosted through a succession of gigs in festivals worldwide ranging from Big Chill Festival to Barcelona's Sonar. Also, Isan play an active part in the art communities. Dan Flavin's retro was opened up by their excellent live.

Isan's new album Plans Drawn in Pencil is out in June.
