Iration began in Isla Vista, CA, the small college town connected to UC Santa Barbara. Forming out of various garage jam sessions at one of their houses on Camino Corto, they began to play backyard parties (especially Isla Vista's famous Del Playa Drive) and local events for the endless supply of students. They since have moved to play in other college towns such as Cal Poly SLO, Chico State and UC Davis. On May 1, 2009 the concert in Davis donated proceeds to Camp Kesem and was planned by concert promoter/producer Jason Pearl.

Building on their growing popularity, the released their New Roots EP in 2006. Playing numerous shows in Isla Vista, Downtown Santa Barbara and throughout California, they solidified their presence as they were able to develop an extensive fan base while networking with other California bands in the scene. The Santa Barbara Independent noted: "There’s something to be said for any band that can capture the undivided attention of a crowd full of drunken Isla Vistans, especially when there are kegs to be tapped and cops to avoid. But roots reggae rockers Iration manage to "do it" on a regular basis."

In 2007, they recorded and released their first full length album No Time for Rest at Castaway 7 Studios in Ventura, Ca, which featured "In This Generation Time" as one of the last recorded performances by reggae legend Mikey Dread, who produced such bands as The Clash and UB40. Their single “Cookie Jar” reached number one in Hawaii on 93.9 DaBeat and was featured on Fuel TV’s Triple Crown of Surfing recap. Their music was also featured on MTV shows Maui Fever and Living Lahaina.

In 2008, Iration embarked on their first national tour titled “Playboys in Paradise” in support of the band Pepper.

On October 3, 2008 Iration released their second EP Sample This featuring the single "Falling," where it debuted as the #3 top-selling reggae albums world-wide on itunes. The Pier said of the EP: "The Sample This EP was probably close to the perfect four songs you could release together at the one time."

Iration has recently recorded four new songs two of which were co-written by Grammy Award Winner Charles Brotman. They continue to tour extensively and look forward to bringing their sound to an even larger audience.

Currently Iration is working on their second full-length album. Since the release of "Sample This" Iration has headlined sold-out shows at venues: The Roxy Theatre Hollywood, Downtown Brew Co SLO, Kona Bowl Hawaii, Hard Rock Cafe Lahaina, Univ. of Hawaii at Hilo, and Velvet Jones Santa Barbara.

On March 9th, Iration released their second full length album "Time Bomb". The much anticipated album topped the reggae genre boards on iTunes. The album has remained in the top 10 ever since in exclusive company such as, Rebelution, Damian Marley, Bob Marley. The band still travels nation wide bringing down venues with their music. The growing popularity of the rock, reggae, dub genre hints that only good things are to come for the once small time backyard band.

Iration has performed with acts such as: Pepper (band), Ziggy Marley, Slightly Stoopid, Steel Pulse, Stephen Marley, Sean Kingston, Don Carlos, The Expendables, The English Beat, Yellowman, Mikey Dread, Katchafire, Natural Vibrations, Rocky Duwani, Shwayze, Cisco Adler, Soldiers of Jah Army, Rebelution, Top Shelf, George Clinton and P Funk, Ooklah the Moc, and many others.
