IEEE Professional Communication Society
2007 Conference
September 30 - October 3, 2007
Seattle, Washington

An exciting conference is coming to the Puget Sound Region this fall! The IEEE Professional Communication Society (PCS) is hosting its annual international conference in Seattle from Oct. 1 - Oct. 3 and the theme is "Engineering the Future of Human Communication." This year also happens to be PCS's 50th anniversary and much of the conference will revolve around celebrating the past 50 years, plus looking ahead to the next 50.

We are featuring two powerhouse speakers in the field:

Ray Kurzweil, our keynote speaker, is an internationally-recognized inventor, entrepreneur, author, and futurist who has been called "the restless genius." Dr. Kurzweil was the principal developer of the first omni-font optical character recognition, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, the first CCD flat-bed scanner, the first text-to-speech synthesizer, the first music synthesizer capable of recreating the grand piano and other orchestral instruments, and the first commercially marketed large-vocabulary speech recognition system.

Chris Linnett has launched some of the Web's most popular sites-including the MSN homepage and Microsoft Office Online. With 15 years of experience in product development and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, he brings knowledge and practice to content, communication, and the other components involved in building online businesses and experiences. During 12 years at Microsoft he managed numerous consumer and information-worker products. Currently Director of Open List at Marchex, he is creating a local-search service and leveraging that to create targeted consumer destinations at more than 100,000 web sites.
