With all the investment options out there, who can you turn to for unbiased information on how to sort through the choices and to check out a financial services professional? On Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM the Hubbard Branch Library will host a free investor education seminar to help you better understand the whole investing process. The Hubbard Branch is partnering with the State of Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services to offer Investor Education @ your library® to help library customers understand the difference between stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, define investment terms in plain English and offer tips on how to select a financial services provider.

Library customers who attend this free, non-commercial, 90-minute presentation will learn more about the major exchanges, popular indexes and averages, and common investment terms. A representative of the Office of Financial and Insurance Services will present, “Investing Fundamentals,” to help patrons understand diversification, compound vs. average rates of return and more.

Optional one-on-one counseling sessions with attendees will be available immediately following the presentation.

This session is free and open to the public. Seating for the workshop and private one-on-one counseling is limited. Advance registration is required for both.

The Hubbard Branch is located at 12929 West McNichols near James Couzens. For more information and to register, contact the Library at 313-243-0422, or www.detroitpubliclibrary.org.
